Two years ago, I looked at dozens of wall mounts for large LCD/Plasma TVs. Most are very cheaply designed and manufactured. When I first saw this product (OmniMount ULPC-X), I had a case of "sticker-shock." I couldn't find it discounted anywhere and the retail price was around $500. But, I was so impressed with it when I saw it displayed at a retail store that I kept looking to find it discounted. I finally purchased it for under $300, close to what Amazon is selling it for.

When I got it home, unpackaged it and looked at the instructions, I thought they were... "elaborate." Yes, if you wish to take full advantage of what this product can do, you have to drill into some sturdy and reliable wall studs. It took me about two hours to mount this unit correctly, and probably at least an hour of that was prep-time. What I have in return is a mounting device that solidly extends, tilts, and rotates - and it will do with the biggest and heaviest consumer-grade TVs found on the market. My OmniMount is now two years old, and I'm here on Amazon to buy yet another to use in another room, with a 60" TV. You can find cheaper wall mounts than this one, but you'll never outgrow this product if you upgrade to larger TVs in the future. In addition, you'll never regret buying something that will last a lifetime.
