I recently bought a Sega 32X RGB SCART Cable for my NTSC Sega 32X. That cable sends a pure RGB 480i signal to my NTSC TV. There is just one little problem, we don't use SCART in the USA. So I bought this converter from amazon. It not only lets me hookup my SCART cables, but it also lets me use my Xbox 360 S and 32X with my Turtle Beach X11 Headset and converts the 480i resolution from my 32X to 1080p! I set this up with my 720p samsung 50" TV and a 20" LCD HD monitor. Coming from my FIOS box, the HD channels worked terrific, the HDMI splitter picked up the lower resolution TV and displayed perfectly on both outputs. However, when trying to view standard definition channels through the HDMI the splitter would only show an image on the HD LCD monitor (without the splitter these channels would normally show up without a problem on the TV).

I have an European satellite receiver I plan to use in the US. Because of the system difference, I had to use the Orei adaptor. In the end it worked well, however, for about 10 minutes I thought the unit is defective. After you plug in the cables, and you start the TV on the required input source, make sure you go up/down on +/- buttons to find the right frequency. I bought this to use my iMac 27" with mini DV port as a display for a first generation XBox 360 (as part of a ridiculous daisy chain of converters and cables). It works well, and is cheaper than some of its competitors. However, as using an iMac as an external display for a separate input may be one of the use cases people looking to buy this are interested in, I would like to make clear that iMacs only accept digital video input at 720p or their native resolution. You will not get 1080p with this, or any other converter, unless it upsamples the 1080p video to the native 2560x1440 resolution (for the 27"). I have not found any reasonably priced HDMI to DV converter that does this. This is an issue with the iMac's supported resolutions and not this device's fault, but you should be aware of it.

DVDO iScan Duo High Definition Video Processor (Black) Review

The DVDO ISCAN DUO is a switcher, a scaler / deinterlacer, a video process and more. It includes a very decent color management system, which is what makes it so outstanding for the price. Many TVs just don't have the adjustments built in to properly calibrate them. Even a pro can only make modest differences in a TV without a CMS (color management system).

The only comparable products on the market to the DUO are the Radiance Video Processors. The DUO is much more user friendly and it one third the price of the comparable Radiance. I could swap out almost every piece of my video chain and I would not cry... take my DUO away and I would be ready to go to war.

With SpectraCal's Calman, or Huffman's ChromaPure you can automate the complete calibration process. Yes a manual calibration using either of these 3rd party programs can produce slightly better results, but with a decent color meter, the DUO and ChromaPure or Calman, an amatuer can pretty much duplicate a $500 calibration..

If you are using a front or rear projector the quick automated calibration capability is a big deal because the calibration changes as the lamp ages and makes less light. The lamp light also changes color as the lamp ages. With the DUO and the right software you could calibrate once a month if you wanted to and maintain that just pro-calibrated performance without the reocurring price.

I have owned the DUO for a couple years and went through all the firmware betas, so if you only tried ths with early firmware you really don't know what the VP can do. Only downside is DVDO was bought out and future firmware development is an open question. Having said that, the Duo is pretty much a finished device. The professional calibration software developers support is what conitnues to make the DUO more valuabe by continually refining their autocalibration support. The DUO is a professional class VP at a consumer level price.

If there is a next generation of this product for half the price.. it would get five stars from me. The Radience products are slightly better but the full blown Radiance can cost upwards of 5 thousand dollars.
