Most HDMI over CAT5e/6 cable extenders require you to use 2 CAT5e/6 cables. This can be burdensome especially if you already have a single pre-existing cable already run through your walls. If that is the case then you can just use this single UTP cable extender and not have to deal with the 2 cable setup.

The installation of these extenders is quick and easy, simply place Sender unit next to your HDTV source such as a DVD player, place the Receiver unit next to your display, then connect 1 x Cat5e or Cat6 cable and you are done. For my budget, this product fit perfectly. My goal was to run two 50ft Cat6e cable up the wall in one of my bedrooms, over the ceiling, and back down another wall to a 42" flat screen. I tested it before-hand with my cables and some other, shorter, cat5 cables. Both worked wonderfully, although Cat6 can be adapted for other uses incase you get rid of this adapter.

The only problem I have with it are the tiny green artifacts that I get, pushing a 1920x1080 resolution. It looks almost like a stuck pixel, but they flash ever-so slightly. You can usually only see them in the black-blacks in an image.

If I dim down to any other resolutions, I get a quality image without any artifacts. I've found that lowering my refresh rate from 30hz, to 24hz helps to get rid of alot of the artifacts at my high resolution. Of course, you may not have this problem running a lower resolution, or even a shorter cable. I might also add that I am going from a PC to a plasma television.
