I am stationed in Turkey with the military, and bought a new $4,000 Sony LCD from our local store. Needless to say that even a $4,000 TV won't display the European PAL signal. Sony said it was b/c the TV is the new 1080P version (which is what I bought it for) but that as of right now those won't show a PAL signal. I ordered an analog converter for $30, but it only fixed one of my problems. My TV was encountering two different problems. 1. There was no color

2. The image was just scrolling down the screen

The analog only fixed the color problem, so I ended up spending the extra money and going with this one..which is digital. As soon as I hooked it up both problems were fixed. The only problem I see if the video quality isn't that great. You have to think about what it's doing though, it's switching viewing systems from PAL to NTSC (which NTSC will never look as good due to less lines per frame). All in all...it's a well made, solid piece of equipment with lots of options to fix your problem.

Just received this converter yesterday. Allowed me to attach my Wii to a new tv using the HDMI port. Color looks great and clarity is very good. I watched a little Netflix through the Wii and it looks really nice (especially considering the signal is not HD). The unit gets pretty warm after just a few minutes, but worked great for over an hour last night. Hopefully it holds up!

I purchased this for a program I help support at my Church. We needed something to convert high resolution HDMI from our video camera to a resolution that could be displayed on VGA video projectors and VGA monitors. We had purchased two devices from other vendors that gave no flexibility on VGA output resolution selection. Lack of experience on our part in realizing this was critical in some situations caused us not to realize our mistake in our initial purchases. The SB-2833 gave us the flexibility we needed to get the highest VGA resolution possible at a very reasonable price. We had absolutely no issues with this converter - it worked exactly as documented. The vendor as also great as they were quick to get this item shipped out.

We have only used the unit twice so I cannot comment on long term durability of this device. The converter box unit and power connections seem reasonably rugged in appearance!

Lenkeng LKV363 RCA Composite Video and S-video to Full HD 1080P HDMI Scaler Review

Received today and here are the Results.
TV's Used:
46" Samsung C630, 36" Sony Trinitron (for Comparison of its Natural Display State)
Systems Tested: SNES, N64, Dreamcast PS2.
S-Video Cables of various quality were Used for all Systems.

SNES Results:
Surprisingly Good. Large Clear Picture with expected amount pixelation. Colors are vibrant and minimal Tearing / Artifacting. Games are very playable with no Input Lag.
Because of the native low Res 256x240 there will always be some pixelation even on a CRT however this varies by game and over all it looks great scaled and sounds great.
Games Tested: Illusion of Gaia, Mortal Kombat II, Earthworm Gym, Equinox, Donkey Kong Country 3

Nintendo 64:
Better than Expected but not perfect. Even on a CRT N64 Games look pretty terrible. Its just the system itself. Because of the low resolution and polygon rate it will always look kinda Meh.
Edges were a bit smoother and less pixelated on the CRT vs the Upscaler on my HDTV but it was very playable and many of the graphical artifacts and tearing were present in both the CRT and HDTV Test.
Games Tested: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64

Dreamcast:
No Surprise here, DC was the little machine ahead of its time. It already looked decent on my HDTV via Composite but Scaled and Converted to 1080p it looks great. Very Bright, Sharp, Clear with very, very minimal artifacts (I had to really look hard).
Games Tested: Power Stone 2, Capcom Vs SNK, Marvel Vs Capcom 2.

Playstation 2: The primary reason I own a CRT TV was for my PS2. The Playstion 2 looked awful to the point of being uplayable on my HDTV. Even with Component Cables.
With the Lenking Scaler at 720p and 1080p the results were....Jaw Dropping.
Considering the Source was output via S-Video and Upscaled the Playstation 2 looks absolutely amazing in comparison to is typically too dark CRT counter-part. Many small details are now clear, graphics and textures are very smooth & bright. The overall all picture quality reminds me much of the HD Remakes.
There is some artifacting but is extremely minimal and much of this is due to the rendering of the games themselves. All in all just how well it scales the PS2 sold me on this device.
Games Tested: Final Fantasy XII, Dragon Quest VIII, Onimusha 2.
If you are a Retrogamer, such as myself and are tired of having a hulking CRT TV around. This device is completely worth the $60 investment.
Although I wish the SNES were smoother, we can only expect so much and it performance exceeded my expectations.

This is the second product I purchased for converting Wii component outputs to HDMI since my receiver didn't switch component outputs (and I only run 1 HDMI cable from receiver with switch through wall to wall-mounted tv). This one works!!! (compared to my last unit made by Geffen)

My only minor complaint is that the audio input is the "headphone" style jack, not RCA... The component cable you get for the Wii has RCA jacks for audio, so you need to by an RCA to 3.5mm adapter with the unit - seems like Startech could have thrown that in... but those adapters are cheap so I didn't ding the review based on that.

Sewell 1x2 HDMI Splitter with Ethernet, 3D Support, and 4Kx2K Resolution Review

I ordered this unit for it's advertised 4K support. However, it does not work with Samsung 4K Uprez blu-ray player and with 50" Seiki UHD TV. 4K works great direct, but using the same certified 4k HDMI 1.4a cables, this box only lets 1080p pass.

Splitter does seem to work fine with 1080p and built quality is decent enough. Based on other reviews here - if you need to pass more than just simple HD 1080p video (4K, 3D etc.) this box appears to be a poor choice.
