This is a great product for capturing anything with A/V or S-video out cords. VCRs, DVD, Blu-ray, DVR, Xbox 360, PS3, CCTV security camera, anything you need as long as it as the proper outputs. I bought this to transfer some video tapes to digital format. It works perfect for that. If you want to capture your first person kills on battlefield or call of duty this will work if you also have A/V splitters (you'll still want to play on a big screen). This product works with Windows7 64-bit. If you need specs for your specific computer just visit the manufacturer website at sima products dot com. There is software included "ArcSoft ShowBiz" which is an ok editing program. Once you capture you can add effects (30 of them) and even stack them (use multiple effects in a single video clip at the same time) You can also choose when to enact the effects and stop them. There does not appear to be a fade function for the effects. There are transition effects (23 of them) to change from one video clip to another smoother than a single frame jump. IF you use transitions right you can fade effects using them. There is a trimming tool to cut off excess at the begging or end of a clip or remove middle parts of a clip that aren't necessary. There is a feature I haven't used yet as I don't have a microphone but there appears to be a voice over tool. Allowing you to add narration to a video. The last feature that needs to be mentioned is the ability to add text to a clip. I have yet to use it either, but it appears that you can superimpose text on top of a clip or make text its own clip. The editing also allows you to add multiple clips to a project and save it as a single clip. You can add in your own digital video clips to a project. The software is alright, the functions are nice, but the user interface should really be improved. The publish options allows you upload to YouTube, create a file, or burn to a DVD. The formats include AVI, MP4, MPEG1, MPEG2, WMV, and a couple more.
If you are looking for an analog to digital converter and/or a low to mid-grade video editing program then I would highly recommend this product. It's a great value for the money.
