I originally purchased ADSTech DVD Xpress to transfer some old VHS tapes to DVD. Well, it was a piece of [...] that never worked. I decided to suck it up and purchase this substantially more expensive converter.

I'm glad I did. It has worked flawlessly, and the output looks great. I have had no problems whatsoever, and have already transferred 10 2-hour videos. Some outside reviews have complained about this converter not including a separate power supply, even though it does have that capacity. Instead, it gets its power from the firewire connection. I have experienced no issues resulting from this.

All in all, a great little piece of equipment!

For my budget, this product fit perfectly. My goal was to run two 50ft Cat6e cable up the wall in one of my bedrooms, over the ceiling, and back down another wall to a 42" flat screen. I tested it before-hand with my cables and some other, shorter, cat5 cables. Both worked wonderfully, although Cat6 can be adapted for other uses incase you get rid of this adapter.

The only problem I have with it are the tiny green artifacts that I get, pushing a 1920x1080 resolution. It looks almost like a stuck pixel, but they flash ever-so slightly. You can usually only see them in the black-blacks in an image.

If I dim down to any other resolutions, I get a quality image without any artifacts. I've found that lowering my refresh rate from 30hz, to 24hz helps to get rid of alot of the artifacts at my high resolution. Of course, you may not have this problem running a lower resolution, or even a shorter cable. I might also add that I am going from a PC to a plasma television.

Low Cost / Easy to set-up / Does the Job - What more can you ask for? The only negatives are that the switch button is manual (i.e. no remote control) and that the Channel Selection Indicator Lights are an obnoxious bright blue color. This output of these lights are so bright that, in the dark, they light up a good sized corner of a room. I recommend putting some colored vinyl tape over these lights (I used Red) to diminish the intensity to a much more acceptable (i.e. dimmer) level.

This item is exactly as it was described. We just plugged one end into an HDMI cable, and the other into the USB port on my 6 year old laptop. We then plugged the HDMI cable into the slot on the side of our lcd tv and ran our Amazon video purchases from the laptop to the tv. The sound and picture were excellent, and it couldn't have been easier. My husband, who is very picky about electronics, was surprised by and happy with the results. If you want to run video from your computer to your tv, don't hesitate to buy this item. I'm very happy with my purchase.
PS: in case it matters to someone else, we had to switch our receiver to "CD" to get the sound.

I really needed one of these to take the audio out of my ps3's hdmi because I had it hooked up to my monitor, which does not have an audio out. Teh audio quality is the same as it is hooded up to the TV. The volume is a bit too low, but thats nothing that an amplifier can't fix. This is expected because this device isn't an amplifier. It's fine for playing quietly through headphones. I assume hooking these up to externally powered speakers would make it louder.

Also, you may want to get a y cable to combine the RCA to a 3.5 mm female audio jack.

Fosmon VGA to HDMI Converter Box (VGA + 3.5mm Audio In, HDMI Out) Review

I am using this unit with a HP notebook running Windows 7. With the resolution on higest setting, the display set on the projector mode and the TV screen set on 4/3 setting circles are round and squares are square. The wide screen will produce a somewhat distorted view but will fill the screen. The HDMI setup makes the audio easy. The unit is small and very light and will move around due to the stiff VGA and HDMI cords but a little double sided tape or velcro takes cane of that. All in all it is a very serviceable unit.

This is a wireless USB to HDMI solution that works, providing clear digital display of movies, presentations, web conferencing, etc. There's a slight transmission delay so it's not intended for high end gaming on a big screen, but it's sufficient for movies and even surfing the web at 55" without tethers. Great step forward. Since the HDMI signal includes both video and sound, they are always synched and have no lip-sync delay. Don't listen to sound from your pc, use the HDMI to your receiver/tv solution.

There are two forms of technology that this product uses. "Wireless USB" and a diamond "USB to HDMI" video adapter.

Wireless USB has been growing in implementation over the last year or so and this solution uses a sender and receiver USB dongle. I'm running a Windows 7 x64 platform and the included disc did not install adequate drivers... so I connected to the Diamond website and downloaded the current set. It installed on first try, installing the wireless USB drivers, wireless USB manger and the diamond HDMI adapter drivers. Once installed, I plugged the adapter into my Dell Precision M4400 laptop and it was recognized immediately. Using their manager I setup my 55" plasma as a secondary monitor at full resolution. I then could drag Netflix or my media player over to that screen to play.

A previous reviewer stated that he was missing pixels at the edge of his screen. That's his TV, not the adapter. My Samsung has a display mode that shows the full HDMI signal, even the crappy digital sync noise that is usually at the top of commercials. With my Samsung in this full display mode, I'm able to see the full signal sent. Many TV's automatically crop the HDMI/HDTV 1080/720 signal down without option to show the full signal. It wouldn't be a loss in quality for those of you that already watch your TV and video with this limitation, it's just that when you look at a desktop app and see pieces missing, you really notice it. It's not this solution that causes your problem...

Color representation seemed very accurate, so the digital signal going into my Pioneer Elite receiver was good. I've calibrated that HDMI input previously with a colorimeter for Blu-ray, and this input did not visually differ. If you are picky about color reproduction, there are decent cheap colorimeters like the data color spyder3 solution that will work well with your PC and this display method.

On a low note, the Wireless USB dongles grew increasingly hot, but the transmitter and receiver dongle. We all know that hot isn't good for computing electronics, but i didn't detect any degradation in performance as they became very hot to the touch. The dongle nature of the Wireless USB is a benefit, in that I could easily disconnect them from both the laptop and the HDMI 'dock' when not in use. I am concerned about forgetting to do so and finding a melted mess later. Perhaps someone else could experiment with that first :)

All in all.... great solution... too hot, but the convenience and accuracy of the wireless high resolution picture/sound are a great addition to my home theater. It's not something that you can just plug-n-play into any of your guests laptop to display on your TV and have it work immediately.. there's drivers to install, but, it really removes the mess of cables instantly upgrading your 3 year old HDTV into the world of "TV Apps" allowing your computer to fill that gap Netflix, Pandora, Amazon Video, Hulu, YouTube, Facebook)

While this product is described as supporting up to 1920x1200, it does not support -quality- up to that level. More accurately it will display the aspect ratio of 1920x1200 (16:10). The quality of the video is akin to what you'd get projecting a 50x50, overly compressed, artifact-ridden JPEG onto a movie theater screen. I bought this with the hope of hooking up my 360/PS2 to my computer monitor (which only takes VGA and HDMI), but with the understanding the quality may wind up better suited for hooking up my older consoles (NES/SNES,Genesis,Saturn,etc) to an old CRT. I am not picky about video quality and even I became annoyed dealing with a converter that likes to randomly place half the image offscreen, flicker, and was hot to the touch after only 20 minutes of use. I even had to switch out the cheap VGA cable that came with it just to have legible text onscreen. Very disappointed with purchase. If you want an RCA to VGA converter with greater video conversion abilities than your toaster can provide, invest in a pricier device.
