I needed this in order to fix the issue I was having with my capture card. The component recording was messed up, wouldn't allow recording that way. Considering I have a PS3, that was the only way that I could record. Using this converter, I can still use component cables from the PS3 to the converter, then an HDMI cable to the capture card. This inadvertently allows me to now record in 1080p from my PS3 as well. Great product, no quality lost, I would recommend this to anyone needing an alternate fix for the HDCP.
