After my experience with this product Component video (YPbPr) / VGA To HDMI Converter With Auto Up-scale, I've decided to look around for a product that hasn't been plagued with reviews saying it's good for PC useage.
As I was browsing through CE Compass's page, I found this product and it had no reviews. I was leary of ordering this not knowing if it was good or bad like the other one I ordered. But then I saw the units in stock went from 9 to 2, and I knew it had to be good. So I took my chances and ordered it on January 26th.

This product just arrived eariler today (a day eariler than expected date, but thats a good thing)... WOW I must say!! This thing ACTUALLY WORKS to my expectations!!!!

Setting it up was no prob and the image looks good. Not only does the default 16:9 mode slightly zoom on the image, but it also stretches it unlike the composite to hdmi one I bought in august.

Colors are good and are richer, but darker. Though this a good thing for the Wii with it's known brightness issue, sometimes it makes things too dark like in a cave aera or a black menu with bright backrgound art. Or in a Need for Speed game where it's a night setting and things can get hard to see. This issue is somewhat minor as you could turn the brightness up on your TV if ya must.

At 720P, the image is sharp, though with a bit of noise and softness. But it helps smooth the jagged textures on some games by a good amount. Sometimes on a few games or when playing PS1 games on a PS2 with component, if you look close enough there is some slight brightness flickering that you may see. This is not that big of an issue, i'd rather deal with it on occasion rather than have an ugly red tint. This unit has no problems switching through different video modes on component, as I've tested playing GT4 in 1080i being converted to 720P with no ill-effects.

Some people may not like that there is no input for Rca L/R audio but insetad for a 3.5 stereo jack. I'd rather have the sound come out crisp through my RCA 5.1 stereo unit, instead of through my TVs horrid speakers!

I haven't tested it yet with conversion from VGA, but I don't expect much of an inprovment when I can go HDMI or VGA (which looks good in it's entity) from the laptop itself.

Overall, this unit works great for playing old gaming classics in upconverted HD from conmpoent, and for those who have a system that has component, but no input for it on the TV and HDMI only. Aside from the minor issues, this IS WORTH the buy.
