Okay the 1st one I bought had no sound. I texted with their online help and they authorized a return item and he told me their previous version box would work this one has known adaptability issues. I reassured him my TV was brand new HDTV Panasonic plasma. He said it had nothing to do with my TV. Asked if they would pay the shipping charges back. He said yes and sent an email with instructions.
Ok a little annoyed by having to wait but I am flexible. Sent it back Priority Mail as it was sent to me at $7.50. Was refunded $4.99. So it cost me another $2.51. No biggie.
2nd version arrived and all works well almost. Good picture and now I have sound. Only complaint with sound is their is now a buzzing sound audible when there is no sound going thru the converter. When using the sound you cant hear it. A little annoying otherwise. Another issue is the 1st box has an on/off switch, this older version that works does not. So I have to unplug it everytime. Considering returning for yet a 2nd time to see if another converter of the same style works w/o the sound artifacts.
Overall, it does what it says converts VGA to HDMI. Picture is great. Played some HD videa recorded thru a camera (720p) on a 50" plasma and the colors and imaged popped! Make sure you are watching HD videos when evaluating. Many videos online are NOT that high quality (YouTube) etc.
Overall satisfied. Would like to get a discount for sound issues and lack of on/off switch.
