The switch just plain works, exactly as you would design it yourself. Plug an HDMI cable from switch to TV (or wherever else you might wish to send the output). Plug HDMI cables into 1-3 input ports. As soon as the device connected to a specific input port is powered up, that input is selected. The only caveat is that other input devices must be powered off.

This switch comes with an IR sensor and a remote. Neither seems to me to be necessary. It also has an input jack for 5v power, which I have also not needed.

Worked right out of the box and simplified switching inputs to TV between cable box, DVD player, and computer. Great device, great price.
