Product Description
This 4x1 HDMI Switcher meets all HDMI v1.4 specifications including HDMI Ethernet Channel, Audio Return Channel, Full 3D support, and 4Kx2K Resolution Support. Connect multiple HDMI sources with one HDMI display end. Switch any one of the four HDMI sources to one display or projector simply and easily. The signal can support extra audio out by optical cable. Without adding an additional HDMI Cable this switch will reverse the audio to the AV amplifier through the HDMI cable connection allowing your HDTV to receive audio and video content. Switch between four HDMI sources either automatically or manually using the buttons on the switch or the included IR remote. This HDMI switch is compatible with all HDMI sources and supports HDCP.New FunctionsThe HDMI organization has recently upgraded HDMI to include several new and exiting functions. HDMI v1.3 cables are already being phased out by the superior HDMI v1.4 cables. The problem is that most HDMI devices (including switches) do not support these new functions. This HDMI switch will allow you to enjoy all the new functions of HDMI v1.4.HDMI Ethernet Channel: Allows you to use HDMI devices that are IP enabled such as HDTVs and Blu-Ray players with Ethernet enabled features. This would allow you to use your Netflix instant viewing app on your new Ethernet enabled HDTV, for instance.Audio Return Channel: Allows you to connect an HDMI TV with a tuner to an audio receiver via HDMI. This allows you to send audio from your TV to the receiver "upstream" without giving up the "downstream" video from a video source connected to your receiver (like from a Blu-Ray player or gaming console).3D Support: This cable has added 3D support, supporting every brand and type of active and non-active 3D protocols.4K support: This future proofs your HDMI cable; supporting resolutions that far surpass 1080p (4096×2160 p24 to be exact, 1080p is 1920x1080).Sewell 4x1 HDMI v1.4 Switch With Ethernet, 3D Support, 4Kx2K Resolution, and Remote Review
I was not sure what to expect with this switch but I found it to be reliable and performs well. I have not had any issues with it to date. I use this switch for the Audio out feature because I dont want to upgrade my receiver that works just fine, but does not have any HDMI switching or inputs. So i switch with this switch and use the SPDIF optical output in to the receiver for all the audio. One thing I have run in to is that when I use the Blue Ray player on the switch there are some audio modes that are passed to the receiver that the receiver doesn't understand. For example of the disk is in Dolby digital 7 channel or something like that the receiver cant decode it and doesn't do anything. fortunately the Blue Ray has another Digital pcm output that down converts to a mode the receiver can decode. at any rate that has nothing to do with this switch. Just an FYI. I am running 1080P across a 70 foot HDMI cable to the TV from the media closet and it is working just fine.I have not tried 3d yet with the switch.
The packaging was well done but you can definitely tell the instructions manual was done on a lower budget. Not a big deal considering the device is just a switch.
Bottom line is that this switch is not much money and it allowed me to keep a perfectly good surround receiver in place for a while longer.
I definitely recommend this switch especially if you need an optical output.
